Right-censoring

Right-censoring is a statistical method used in survival analysis to handle incomplete data. It occurs when the event of interest has not occurred for some subjects at the time of analysis. In other words, the data is incomplete because the study has not yet observed the event of interest for some subjects. This type of censoring is also known as Type I censoring. Right-censoring is common in medical studies where the time to an event, such as death or disease recurrence, is of interest. The survival function is estimated using the Kaplan-Meier estimator or other parametric models. Right-censoring can be informative or non-informative depending on the reason for censoring. Informative censoring occurs when the probability of censoring is related to the outcome of interest, while non-informative censoring occurs when the probability of censoring is unrelated to the outcome of interest.
