Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM)
Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) is a digital modulation technique used in telecommunications to transmit information over a radio frequency carrier wave. It is a combination of amplitude modulation (AM) and phase shift keying (PSK) that allows for the transmission of multiple bits per symbol. QAM works by modulating two carrier waves that are out of phase with each other, with each wave carrying a separate amplitude signal. The amplitude and phase of each carrier wave can be varied to represent different combinations of binary digits, allowing for a high data rate transmission. QAM is commonly used in cable modems, digital subscriber line (DSL) systems, and wireless networks such as Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
