Amplitude Modulation
Amplitude Modulation (AM) is a technique used in telecommunications and signal processing to transmit information by varying the amplitude of a carrier wave in proportion to the message signal. In AM, the amplitude of the carrier wave is varied while its frequency and phase remain constant. The resulting modulated signal contains the original message signal as well as two sidebands, which are mirror images of each other and contain the same information as the original message signal. AM is widely used in radio broadcasting, where the carrier wave is typically a high-frequency sine wave and the message signal is an audio waveform.
