Asymmetric Algorithms
Asymmetric algorithms, also known as public-key cryptography, are a type of encryption that uses two different keys for encryption and decryption. One key is public and can be shared with anyone, while the other key is private and must be kept secret. The public key is used to encrypt data, while the private key is used to decrypt it. Asymmetric algorithms are commonly used in secure communication protocols such as SSL/TLS, SSH, and S/MIME. They provide a higher level of security than symmetric algorithms because the private key is never shared, making it more difficult for attackers to intercept and decrypt the data. However, asymmetric algorithms are slower and more computationally intensive than symmetric algorithms, which can make them less practical for certain applications.
