Time Standard
A Time Standard is a specification for measuring time intervals and defining units of time. In data science, time standards are used to synchronize and compare data from different sources. The most commonly used time standard is Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is based on International Atomic Time (TAI) and adjusted for leap seconds to keep it in sync with the Earth's rotation. Other time standards include GPS time, which is used by the Global Positioning System, and Network Time Protocol (NTP), which is used to synchronize clocks on computer networks. Time standards are important in data science because they ensure that data is consistent and accurate across different systems and locations.
