Hadoop consists of two main components: the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and the MapReduce programming model. HDFS is a distributed file system that provides high-throughput access to application data and is designed to be fault-tolerant. MapReduce is a programming model for processing large data sets with a parallel, distributed algorithm on a cluster. Hadoop also includes other tools such as Pig, Hive, and HBase, which provide higher-level abstractions for data processing and querying.
