SCTP

Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) is a transport layer protocol that provides reliable, message-oriented communication between two endpoints. It is designed to transport Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) signaling messages over IP networks, but it can also be used for other applications that require reliable, ordered delivery of data. SCTP provides several features that are not available in other transport layer protocols, such as multi-homing, which allows a single endpoint to have multiple IP addresses, and multi-streaming, which allows multiple streams of data to be sent over a single SCTP association. SCTP also includes a number of congestion control mechanisms to ensure that network resources are used efficiently.
