Transport Layer
In the context of data communication, the Transport Layer is responsible for providing reliable end-to-end communication between two devices on a network. It ensures that data is transmitted error-free, in sequence, and without loss or duplication. The Transport Layer accomplishes this by breaking down large data packets into smaller segments, which are then transmitted individually and reassembled at the receiving end. It also manages flow control, which regulates the rate at which data is transmitted to prevent congestion and ensure efficient use of network resources. The Transport Layer is the fourth layer of the OSI model and is implemented in protocols such as TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol).
