Public Health Surveillance
Public Health Surveillance is the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of health data for the purpose of preventing and controlling disease and injury. It involves the monitoring of health events and health indicators, such as disease outbreaks, mortality rates, and risk factors, in order to identify patterns and trends, and to inform public health policies and interventions. Public Health Surveillance can be passive or active, and can involve various sources of data, including clinical, laboratory, and environmental data. It plays a critical role in detecting and responding to public health emergencies, and in evaluating the effectiveness of public health programs and policies.
