NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a high-performance, scalable host controller interface designed to address the needs of Enterprise, Data Center and Client systems that utilize PCI Express (PCIe) based Solid State Drives (SSDs). It is a protocol that allows the CPU to communicate directly with the SSD, bypassing the traditional storage controller, resulting in faster data transfer rates and lower latency. NVMe is designed to take advantage of the low latency and parallelism of PCIe SSDs, allowing for higher input/output operations per second (IOPS) and lower power consumption.
