Matching

Matching refers to the process of finding the correspondence between two sets of data. In data science, matching is often used to combine data from different sources based on common variables. Matching can be done using various techniques such as exact matching, propensity score matching, and nearest neighbor matching. Exact matching involves finding pairs of observations that have identical values on the matching variables. Propensity score matching involves matching observations based on their probability of being in a certain group. Nearest neighbor matching involves finding the closest match between observations based on a set of variables. Matching is commonly used in observational studies to reduce bias and increase the validity of causal inference.
