VLANs

VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) are a method of creating multiple broadcast domains within a single physical network. VLANs are used to segment a network into smaller logical networks, which can improve network performance, security, and manageability. VLANs are created by assigning ports on a switch to a specific VLAN, and traffic within a VLAN is isolated from traffic in other VLANs. VLANs can be configured to span multiple switches, allowing for more complex network topologies. VLANs are commonly used in enterprise networks to separate different departments or groups, or to isolate sensitive traffic such as financial or HR data.
