Tiered Storage
Tiered storage is a data storage strategy that involves categorizing data based on its importance and storing it on different types of storage media, such as solid-state drives (SSDs), hard disk drives (HDDs), and tape drives. The goal of tiered storage is to optimize storage performance and cost by placing frequently accessed data on faster and more expensive storage media, while less frequently accessed data is stored on slower and less expensive media. This approach allows organizations to balance the need for high-performance storage with the cost of storage. Tiered storage can be implemented using automated storage tiering software that moves data between different storage tiers based on usage patterns and policies.
