Random Variable
In data science, a random variable is a variable whose value is subject to variations due to chance or randomness. It is a mathematical function that maps the outcomes of random events to numerical values. Random variables can be discrete or continuous. Discrete random variables take on a finite or countably infinite set of possible values, while continuous random variables can take on any value within a specified range. Random variables are used in statistical analysis to model and analyze data, and to make predictions based on probability distributions. They are also used in machine learning algorithms to represent input and output data, and to model the uncertainty in the data. In artificial intelligence, random variables are used in probabilistic graphical models to represent the dependencies between variables and to make predictions based on probabilistic inference.
