In Data Science, a dependent variable is a variable that is being studied and measured in an experiment or statistical analysis. It is the output or response variable that is affected by changes in the independent variable. The dependent variable is usually represented on the y-axis of a graph and is used to evaluate the effect of the independent variable on the outcome. In machine learning, the dependent variable is also known as the target variable, and it is the variable that the model is trying to predict based on the input features.
