Covariates
In Data Science, covariates refer to the variables that are not of primary interest in a study but are still measured and included in the analysis because they may have an effect on the outcome variable. Covariates are used to control for the effects of confounding variables, which are variables that are related to both the outcome variable and the primary predictor variable. By including covariates in the analysis, the researcher can isolate the effect of the primary predictor variable on the outcome variable. Covariates can be continuous or categorical variables and can be included in the analysis using various statistical techniques such as regression analysis, ANOVA, and ANCOVA.
