Outcome Variable

In Data Science, an outcome variable is a variable that is being predicted or explained by one or more independent variables. It is also known as a dependent variable or response variable. The outcome variable is the main focus of a statistical or machine learning model, as the goal is to accurately predict or explain its values based on the values of the independent variables. The choice of the outcome variable is crucial in any data analysis, as it determines the objective of the study and the type of model that will be used. For example, in a medical study, the outcome variable could be the presence or absence of a disease, and the independent variables could be age, gender, and lifestyle factors. In a marketing study, the outcome variable could be the sales volume of a product, and the independent variables could be the price, promotion, and distribution channels.
