Alternative Hypothesis
In statistics, the alternative hypothesis is a statement that contradicts the null hypothesis and suggests that there is a significant difference between two or more variables. It is usually the hypothesis that a researcher is trying to prove or support. The alternative hypothesis is tested against the null hypothesis using statistical methods to determine the likelihood of the observed data being due to chance. If the p-value is less than the significance level, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. This means that there is sufficient evidence to support the alternative hypothesis and that the observed difference is not due to chance.
