Treatment Group
In Data Science, a treatment group refers to a group of subjects or units that receive a specific intervention or treatment in an experiment or study. The purpose of having a treatment group is to compare the outcomes of the group that received the treatment to the outcomes of a control group that did not receive the treatment. This allows researchers to determine the effectiveness of the treatment and whether it has a significant impact on the outcome being measured. Treatment groups are commonly used in fields such as medicine, psychology, and education to evaluate the effectiveness of new drugs, therapies, or interventions. In order to ensure the validity of the results, treatment groups are often randomly assigned to participants to minimize bias and confounding variables.
