Transcription Factors
Transcription factors are proteins that bind to specific DNA sequences and regulate the transcription of genetic information from DNA to RNA. In other words, they control the expression of genes by turning them on or off. Transcription factors play a crucial role in many biological processes, including development, differentiation, and response to environmental stimuli. They are also important in disease, as mutations in transcription factors can lead to abnormal gene expression and contribute to the development of cancer and other disorders. In data science, transcription factors are studied using techniques such as ChIP-seq and RNA-seq, which allow researchers to identify the DNA sequences that are bound by transcription factors and the genes that they regulate.
