Strong Artificial Intelligence (AI), also known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), refers to a type of artificial intelligence that is capable of understanding, learning, and applying knowledge, essentially replicating the full range of human cognitive abilities. Unlike weak AI, which is designed to perform a specific task, such as voice recognition, strong AI can handle any intellectual task that a human being can. It can make decisions, solve problems, learn, plan, and communicate in natural language. Strong AI is a central goal of AI research, but it remains largely theoretical, with no existing or proposed system coming close to matching human versatility or general problem-solving ability. The development of strong AI would represent a significant leap in the field of artificial intelligence, potentially leading to the creation of machines that could learn and improve themselves autonomously, without human intervention.
