Operating Systems

An operating system (OS) is a software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs. The operating system is the most important type of system software in a computer system. It acts as an interface between the computer hardware and the user, providing a platform for software to run on. The operating system performs basic tasks such as controlling and allocating memory, prioritizing system requests, controlling input and output devices, facilitating networking, and managing files and directories. Operating systems can be classified into different types such as batch processing systems, real-time systems, distributed systems, and embedded systems.
