Liquid Crystal Displays

Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) are flat panel displays that use liquid crystals to modulate light and produce images. LCDs are widely used in electronic devices such as televisions, computer monitors, smartphones, and digital watches. The liquid crystals in an LCD are sandwiched between two polarizing filters and are controlled by an electric field. When the electric field is applied, the liquid crystals align to allow light to pass through or block it, depending on the orientation of the polarizing filters. The color of the image is produced by a backlight that shines through red, green, and blue filters. LCDs have several advantages over other display technologies, including low power consumption, high resolution, and low cost. However, they also have some limitations, such as limited viewing angles and slower response times compared to other display technologies.
