Hamming Code

Hamming code is a linear error-correcting code used for transmitting digital data over noisy communication channels. It adds extra parity bits to the original data bits to detect and correct errors that may occur during transmission. The number of parity bits added depends on the number of data bits, and the resulting code is called an (n, k) code, where n is the total number of bits and k is the number of data bits. The Hamming distance between two code words is the number of bits in which they differ. Hamming code ensures that the minimum Hamming distance between any two valid code words is at least 3, which means it can detect up to two errors and correct one error. Hamming code is widely used in computer memory systems, satellite communication, and other digital communication systems.
