Frequency-division Multiplexing
Frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) is a technique that allows multiple signals to be transmitted simultaneously over a single communication channel by dividing the available bandwidth into multiple non-overlapping frequency sub-bands, each of which can carry a separate signal. FDM is commonly used in telecommunications, radio broadcasting, and cable television systems. In FDM, each signal is modulated onto a different carrier frequency, and the resulting modulated signals are combined into a composite signal for transmission. At the receiving end, the composite signal is demodulated to recover the individual signals. FDM is an efficient way to utilize the available bandwidth, as it allows multiple signals to be transmitted simultaneously without interfering with each other.
