File Transfer Protocol
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to transfer files from one host to another over a TCP-based network, such as the internet. FTP is built on a client-server architecture and uses separate control and data connections between the client and server. The control connection is used to send commands from the client to the server, such as requesting a file transfer or changing directories. The data connection is used to transfer the actual file data. FTP supports both active and passive modes for data transfer. In active mode, the client initiates the data connection to the server, while in passive mode, the server initiates the data connection to the client. FTP also supports anonymous login, which allows users to access public files without providing a username and password.
