Availability Bias

Availability bias is a cognitive bias that occurs when people make judgments about the likelihood of events based on the ease with which examples come to mind. In data science, availability bias can lead to inaccurate conclusions if the data used to make decisions is not representative of the entire population. This can happen when data is incomplete, biased, or skewed. Availability bias can also affect the way data is collected, analyzed, and presented. For example, if a data scientist only looks at data that is readily available, they may miss important insights that are hidden in other sources. To avoid availability bias, data scientists should use a variety of data sources and analytical methods to ensure that their conclusions are based on a representative sample of the population.
