Packet Prioritization
Packet prioritization is the process of assigning different levels of priority to packets of data in a network based on their importance. This is done to ensure that critical data is transmitted with minimal delay and that less important data is transmitted only when the network is not busy. Packet prioritization is commonly used in Quality of Service (QoS) implementations, where it is used to ensure that real-time applications such as voice and video are given higher priority than non-real-time applications such as email and file transfers. This helps to prevent delays and ensure that the real-time applications are delivered with the necessary speed and quality. Packet prioritization can be implemented using various techniques such as Differentiated Services (DiffServ) and Integrated Services (IntServ).
