Spark is an open-source distributed computing system that is designed to process large-scale data sets. It provides an interface for programming entire clusters with implicit data parallelism and fault tolerance. Spark is built on top of the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and can access diverse data sources including Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Apache Cassandra, Apache HBase, and Amazon S3.
