Read-only Copy

A read-only copy is a duplicate of a dataset or file that is created for the purpose of providing access to the data without allowing any modifications to the original. In data science, read-only copies are often used to ensure data integrity and prevent accidental changes to important datasets. These copies can be created manually or automatically, and can be stored in a variety of formats, including databases, spreadsheets, and text files. Read-only copies are particularly useful in collaborative projects, where multiple team members need access to the same data but should not be able to alter it. They can also be used in data analysis to ensure that the original data remains unchanged during the analysis process.
