Charge-Coupled Device

A Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) is a type of image sensor used in digital cameras and other imaging devices. It is made up of an array of tiny light-sensitive diodes called pixels, which convert light into electrical charge. The charges are then transferred from one pixel to the next through a series of capacitors until they reach the output amplifier, where they are converted into a digital signal. CCDs are known for their high image quality, low noise, and high sensitivity to light, making them ideal for applications such as astronomy, microscopy, and digital photography. However, they are also relatively expensive and consume more power than other types of image sensors.
